Generally, I try to post every two weeks or so. But the absurdity of what is happening in Florida begs for a brief comment. A dozen years ago, conservatives generally were cheering the Supreme Court when it ruled in the Citizens United campaign finance case that a corporation was a person under the First Amendment for the purposes of exercising political speech. There is much about that ruling and it’s consequences not to like, but the ruling stands and is the law of the land.
What is a growing concern for me is that our narratives - liberal's and conservative's are the lens for how we govern. They are no longer just the rhetoric to create more attention on an issue. And more and more people don't have enough understanding of how democracies work nor care to put in the effort to make it work. The end game on this trend is very discouraging and depressing.
