This MAGA cult has taken over the brand and organizational apparatus of the Republican Party but there's very little shared DNA between the two IMHO. Witness in particular foreign policy where the party of Reagan - who once stood before the Berlin Wall and demanded the Soviet Union tear it down - has become the party of Trump and is willing - eager perhaps - to help Russia build a new wall around its annexation of Ukraine.

I write this without intending to be demeaning or condescending, but I cannot help but think that the core of the MAGA movement has tipped over into cultism. It has many of the signs identified in an article published last year in Psychology Today (https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/word-less/202303/has-a-loved-one-fallen-into-a-dangerous-cult) including:
The Big Idea.
Love-Bombing.
A New Life.
Isolation.
Hate Bonding.
Traitors.
Witch Hunts.
Persecution Paranoia.
